Bolt, a leading mobility platform, has introduced Bolt Plus, a monthly membership program aimed at providing riders with exclusive perks such as price protection, priority pick-ups, and free cancellations. The move comes as Bolt looks to enhance customer loyalty, offer greater ride affordability, and differentiate itself in an increasingly competitive ride-hailing market.

Why Is Bolt Introducing Bolt Plus?

Ride-hailing companies are constantly seeking ways to balance affordability for passengers, earnings for drivers, and business sustainability. With fluctuating ride prices and high competition from rivals like Uber and Lyft, Bolt Plus appears to be a strategic initiative to encourage rider retention and ensure more predictable revenue. The membership model could also help smooth demand during peak hours, allowing Bolt to manage supply and pricing more effectively while maintaining customer satisfaction.

Key Features of Bolt Plus

  • Price Protection – Members enjoy capped ride prices during peak demand, ensuring more predictable fares.
  • Cashback – Up to 15% on certain rides
  • Priority Pick-Ups – Subscribers are placed at the top of the waiting list for faster ride allocation.
  • Free Cancellations – Up to three ride cancellations per month without incurring fees.

Impact on Driver Earnings

Bolt has confirmed that Bolt Plus benefits do not affect driver earnings. Drivers continue to receive the full fare for every ride, ensuring their income remains unchanged despite the added perks for passengers.

Jeremy Rawlinson, Vice President of Delivery at Bolt, said “We’ve already piloted Bolt Plus in Lithuania, Portugal, and Romania and received fantastic feedback from customers, restaurants and store partners.”

He continued “This week, we went live in Estonia and we are looking to expand to more markets and add in more benefits to our subscription offering.”

With this new offering, Bolt is tapping into a growing trend of subscription-based services in the mobility sector, aiming to build long-term loyalty while improving the overall user experience.
